Communities

Bible studies. Missional Communities. Small Groups. Most churches have some expression of church care and equipping that extends beyond Sunday morning, and many have a mid-week expression that they call something like the above names. We call our midweek gatherings Gospel Communities (GCs). Gospel Communities are groups of 15-30 people who meet in a member’s home about every week to twice a month 1) to fellowship with one another, 2) provide care and times of prayer, and 3) reorient ourselves back to God through studying Scripture. We call them Gospel Communities because we pray they represent the breadth of what gospel care should look like with fellow believers—including both love of God and love of each other. Our prayer is that Gospel Communities are a place to develop friendships that will last for while you call Main Street Church your church and beyond, and a catalyst for other ministry connections at Main Street Church.

We have over a dozen Gospel Communities are all over the Treasure Valley and they each start up September and run through July (and take August off from formal group meetings but many still have fun times with each other). Each Gospel Community has their own rhythm and schedule for their time, but most follow along with our sermon series  and utilize our sermon notes and questions (though some have a different elder-approved study material). Many choose to work together to have a meal each week, and those with children attending have a plan for childcare.

Gospel Communities are open to any age and stage, married or single, and we love helping connect people to a subsection of our church through our time together. Gospel Communities are excited to have others partner with them for the year…sometimes even longer! No matter when you join, we ask you to make a commitment for the remainder of the term (through July) as much as possible. Please let us know how we can help you find a GC near you!
